Let’s start with props to America’s favorite underdog Chris Rene, who left the show in third place. Here’s his first facebook post since the announcement with photo. ”Exactly where I am supposed to be!!!!“
Here’s Chris’s pre-show post
This has been SUCH an AMAZING part of my life I’ll remember thisFOREVER!!!!!!!! #LOVELIFE — Chris Rene
Kudos Chris, we are proud of you!
Now for the rat…
Based on popularity, Chris should have been in the final two. Either other singer deserved to win via their amazing vocal talent… but Chris caught America’s heart. It makes me wonder if a phone bank went down or the producers had some unknown reason for keeping him out of the top two.
Now for Melanie – CONGRATULATIONS! Your vocal chops deserved the win. And props to your hometown church for prayin’ you through!
All contestants – God’s best to you and yours!

RAT Update 2:00 AM 12/23/2011
Found this video on YouTube. If legit, it supports my theory that something was wrong with the phone voting. Chris should have at the least, been in the Top 2… perhaps even number 1 based on the popular vote. Hang in there Chris… And kudos to your great attitude.

twice during my voting the message said thanks for voting for contestant 3 i was hitting redial so there was no mistake it instantly made me suspicious
To clarify… you dialed the correct number…heard Thanks for voting for contestant number 2… and then on redial the message said Thanks for voting for contestant number 3. Is that what happened? BTW, I did get a busy signal twice during voting, yet it may have been from not putting a 1 before the phone number.
When it comes to music competitions, I am not conspiracy theorist…. but this time, something seemed wrong as soon as he was announced as number 3. It just did not add up to his popularity.
First of all, let me say that I was impressed by the talent and genuineness of Chris Rene and how he stepped it up when he took to the guitar & piano (and for that I even put in some votes for him). However, Melanie won me over consistently pretty much from the beginning and certainly in the end.
As far as voting, I was quite disturbed during the last two pollings. Though I had previously successfully dialed and voted on the number assigned to Melanie, these past two episodes when the lines were open, I could not get even 1 vote in for Melanie. If I got through at all, the message said that the number was NOT VALID. Other than that I could only get busy signals. So I had to resort to strictly voting for her online. And I double checked, tried countless times and was even able to vote on the other contestants numbers. With that, I could not help but wonder who else was having that same experience.
Lastly, let me say that we cannot presume the level of Chris Rene’s or any of the contestants’ popularity (or actual votes) by what we watched on the show or from what might have been blogged. We have no way of knowing how many are actually voting for who, whether by phone, text, Twitter, Facebook, or X Factor online. And though I appreciate the talent & potential of Chris Rene, I think conspiracist thinking on this matter is no more than an unfounded, unreasonable stretch. My prayer is that he will stay clean and make the most of his wonderful talent & earnest through this amazing, miraculous opportunity that he has received!
