COLUMBUS, Ohio — A runaway Christian teenager who fought nearly a year to avoid reconciling with her Muslim parents finally got her wish Thursday when a judge said a reunion was impossible a mere five days before the girl’s 18th birthday.

Thursday, August 5, 2010 -  Stewart County and the State of TN picked the winner in the Republican gubernatorial race with Bill Haslam.  Haslam now moves to the November election.  Thanks Team Haslam for allowing me to serve with you as an Independent promoter.  Come on back to Cindy’s sometime between now and November.

Stewart County Mayor Rick Joiner gets to keep his job, winning the county’s top spot by more than a 2-to-1 margin.  Mayor Joiner — it is a blast to know you and to take you up on your “open door” policy.  Congratulations!

Stewart County Chief Deputy Deryk Wyatt became the new sheriff by less than 100 votes, defeating Frankie Gray 2,097 to 1,894.   Gray is deputy chief of the Clarksville Police Department.  Congratulations Deryk Wyatt… What a close call.  Every vote really does matter.

Here is a REALLY close call.  Derek Earhart beat out incumbent Ruth Mathis for Register of Deeds by a mere 35 votes. The final tally was 2,000 to 1,965.  (A mere 35 votes!!  Sorry Ruth — I enjoyed meeting you and your husband on the campaign trail.)  Congratulations Derek.  All of the best in your new role.

Jason Wallace was returned to the Stewart County Circuit Court Clerk position by better than a 3-to-1 margin.  Congratulations Jason.  It was nice to meet you at the Court House this week.

Montgomery County – Mayor Carolyn Bowers re-elected!  Congratulations Mayor Bowers!  All the best to you and yours!

Congratulations to all!  And thank you to everybody who participated in voting!!

Now it’s back to campaigning to see Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam installed as TN’s next Governor.
